SPIN is a partnership initiative between Sandwell MBC and Sandwell PCTs with input from the voluntary sector. As of November 2004 SPIN became a part of the Joint Policy Unit (JPU). The JPU is new and was only formed during the Autumn of 2004. It brings together joint policy, health policy and commissioning leads from across the Primary Care Trusts and the Council's Social Inclusion. It covers areas which include learning disabilities, older people, adult mental health, health equalities, planning and policy, CHD (Coronary Heart Disease Prevention) and the DAAT (Drug and Alcohol Action Team).
